Nish Kumar

Critically acclaimed comic, internationally famed meme & wonderfully nice gentleman, Nish Kumar is a comedian, and a bloody good one at that (Time Out). Nish has achieved huge success on the stand-up circuit with five rave reviewed solo stand-up shows at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, two of which have been nominated for the prestigious Comedy Award for Best Show in both 2015 & 2016. Nish has also received nominations for Best Show at the 2013 Leicester Comedy Festival & Breakthrough Act at the 2014 Chortle Awards. In 2014 along with four other specially selected comics, Nish embarked on a tour of India with the Melbourne International Comedy Festival Roadshow India and is regularly booked for gigs worldwide including festivals in Hong Kong, Melbourne and New Zealand.

Alongside stand-up Nish is a frequent voice and face across both television and radio and was the 2015/2016 host of topical comedy show, Newsjack for Radio 4 Extra. Following a successful pilot in 2016, Nish has recently completed the first series of his own topical show for BBC Radio 4, Spotlight Tonight which he also hosts. On screen you can catch up with Nish on the likes of Q.I., Mock The Week & Live At The Apollo (all BBC Two), Have I Got News For You & The John Bishop Show (BBC One), 8 Out of 10 Cats Does Countdown (Channel 4), Russell Howard’s Stand-Up for Central, Drunk History, The Alternative Comedy Experience & Live At The Comedy Store (all Comedy Central) and Alan Davies As Yet Untitled (Dave). Most recently Nish has just wrapped filming a 6-part travelogue for BBC worldwide with fellow comic Joel Dommett.

In addition to his achievements as a solo artist, Nish has also been one half of comedy duo ‘The Gentlemen of Leisure’ with fellow comic Tom Neenan since 2009. ‘The Gentleman of Leisure’ have enjoyed great success across the UK including in 2012 when they wrote & performed a site specific tour of the British Museum which was the first of its kind and earned them an invitation to feature on The Comedy Club for Radio 4 extra.

Nish is also a frequent contributor to The Guardian and currently has a number of his own projects in development including a newly commissioned spoof news show for BBC Two, set to air later this year.
