John Robins is an established stand-up and a natural comic talent, frequently popping up on ‘highest reviewed’ lists, he’s received numerous award nominations and in 2015 took home the award for Chortle’s Best Compere. John is regularly invited to perform at festivals across the globe, including Brisbane, Adelaide and New Zealand. In addition to his stand-up success John has a flourishing on-screen career having graced the likes of; ‘Mock The Week (BBC Two), ‘Russell Howard’s Good News’ (BBC3), ‘Live At The Comedy Store’ (Comedy Central) and ‘Alan Davies As Yet Untitled’ (Dave) and is a sought after writer for both television and radio with credits including; ‘Stand Up For The Week’ (Channel 4), ‘A League of Their Own’ (Sky) and ‘Nevermind The Buzzcocks’ (Channel 4).
Alongside his stand-up, television and writing talents, John is also co-host of Radio X’s Chortle Award Winning Weekend Show with fellow comic Elis James. The show has gained cult status for their beta male badinage, unproduceable riffing and willingness to discuss mental health (AKA The Darkness) with an upbeat, lyrical voice. Late 2016 saw the duo complete a hugely successful national tour; ‘The Elis James & John Robins Experience’, selling out The Shepherd’s Bush Empire within minutes. Currently, John has a number of television projects in development as well as preparing for his hotly anticipated return to the Edinburgh Fringe Festival this August.
