Introducing to you Elis James; stand-up comedian, radio DJ, writer, actor and football pundit. A natural performer & sharp gagsmith with numerous critically acclaimed solo stand-up shows under his belt, a hugely successful national tour and invitations to perform both on home soil and across the globe, Elis James is one of the UK’s top comedy talents.
With warm wit & endearing charm, Elis’ talents don’t stop at stand-up and in summer 2016, during the Rio Olympics, Elis was invited by BBC Wales to provide his own weekly take on the Welsh football team’s journey throughout the Euros 2016, ‘Elis in Euroland’. Videos for which were streamed online and broadcast in every Welsh fanzone prior to the games, amassing over half a million views on Facebook. In addition to the videos, Elis made a two part documentary for Radio 4 leading up to the tournament and gave regular interviews and updates for a number of esteemed radio programmes during the tournament including; Radio 4’s Today programme, 5Live, Talksport, BT Sport, Radio Wales and Radio Cymru. Since returning from Rio he has been regularly invited to appear 5Live’s Fighting Talk, one of the most downloaded sporting podcasts in the UK. A radio regular, Elis has also written and starred in three series of Elis James’ Pantheon of Heroes, two series of Social Club FM (both for BBC Radio Wales) and currently co-hosts Radio X’s Chortle Award Winning Weekend Show with fellow comic John Robins. The show has gained cult status for their beta male badinage, unproduceable riffing and willingness to discuss mental health (AKA The Darkness) with an upbeat, lyrical voice. Late 2016 saw the duo complete a hugely successful national tour; ‘The Elis James & John Robins Experience’, selling out The Shepherd’s Bush Empire within minutes.
Elis is also a familiar face across our television screens including appearances on; Mock The Week (BBC Two), 8 out of 10 Cats (Channel 4), Russell Howard’s Good News (BBC Three), Alan Davies: As Yet Untitled (Dave) and has some top acting credits including the lead role of Luke for BBC Three sit-com Crims and most recently Elis stars as Owen in Josh Widdicombe’s BBC Three sit-com Josh which is about to go into its third series.
Elis currently has a number of projects in development and will embark on a special Welsh language tour this autumn, dates TBA.
